In concept, this game may be fun for some who like to micro manage everything. I hope one day BG will consider some changes to the strategic layer of the game but for now it simply does not cater to my style of strategic play or ideas in my head for role playing scenarios :( This was really disappointing because SR is certainly unique and I'm not aware of any other game other than war in the pacific that can replicate what SR2030 is doing. I was very willing to give SR2030 a chance and try to find all the good aspects of the game but combat is simply too abstract and does not support the strategic planning and execution like I wanted to do. I gain access to or negotiate fly over rights so that I can strategically reach the enemy nation and knock out their airfields, research labs, or metal production - the problem is/was I can't damage the infrastructure. Maybe I want to research and produce cutting edge fighter jets and sell them on the world market. In order to do this I would need to use strategic bombing campaigns to strategically target and destroy only certain industries however strategic bombing does little to almost nothing to infrastructure. My goal was to control a resource such as oil or metal, become the market leader on exports, then use military, diplomacy, or espionage to wreck any other large exporters to retain the monopoly on that resource. I bought the game with the hope I could play this strategically however the game does not seem to support this play style. The world map and terrain could really use an upgrade as it shows its age but here again I saw some improvement in SR2030 over SRU. While I still think the UI needs a total rework, it is better than the prior versions and I found it better than SRU. The performance improvements are great over the supreme ruler ultimate, the game is much smoother. Once we've completed all our testing and confirmed we haven't missed any of the files that need translating we'll add the tag of official support on Steam, but users can already check it out. The game can now be played in Portuguese. We've also done some work to expand our game translations. In terms of content changes, most of them related to supporting the earlier eras so might not be immediately visible such as the different trains for the different eras. A focus was put on multiplayer testing in the last few weeks and a few different fixes are in this update and hopefully resolve the remaining multiplayer issues. We've also been continuing to clean up the game data to make region starting conditions and ongoing events more realistic. This update has a number of UI and quality of life fixes.
